Who is VMRC?
VMRC is a Christ-centered, nonprofit continuing care retirement community offering independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care for older adults. It also provides wellness programs, educational opportunities, and arts and cultural activities for residents and the wider community.

Salary Range: $23.87- $32.23

This position is responsible for the overall implementation of Life Enrichment activities in all Assisted Living programs, including Memory Care. Directly manages the Life Enrichment Specialist for Assisted Living. This position will be responsible for creating, coordinating, and facilitating meaningful and engaging activities in collaboration with the Life Enrichment Specialist for all Assisted Living Residents. Provides resident engagement using one-on-one interactions, intergenerational programming, and industry best practices in developing monthly calendars. This role serves as the champion for Montessori Lifestyle Initiative (MLI) at VMRC, driving adoption, improvement, and sustained success throughout areas in which MLI is implemented. Works collaboratively with members of the Wellness and Enrichment team as well as the Assisted Living team. Ensures that all responsibilities are delivered in compliance with all state standards and regulations for Assisted Living Facilities and for CCRCs.

This position is a salaried, exempt position.  Salary will be determined based on previous experiences and qualifications.

Requirements:
  • Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred) and at least two years’ experience facilitating and coordinating programs for older adults in a supportive environment.
  • Possess experience and/or a strong desire to work with residents who have dementia and/or physical limitations.
  • Ability to effectively work with leadership, the Wellness and Community Based Services team, staff, residents, and community members.
  • Ensures activity programs comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Computer experience with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Physically able to escort residents in wheelchairs and assist with loading/unloading vehicles.
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing using the English language with ability to understand and carry out oral and written assignments; ability to perform the duties listed in the job description with limited supervision.
  • Self-motivated, able to schedule time wisely, and accommodate changes.
  • Demonstrated customer service with internal and external customers.
  • Must have a current Virginia Driver’s license, in good standing.
  • Must have First-Aid and CPR certification (or willing to obtain certification within 90 days of employment).
  • Additionally, candidate must be willing to work towards an Activities Director Certification (ADC) or Activity Assistant Certification (AAC).
